The UTDallas Department of Electrical Engineering provides oversight for Senior Design Day for EE/TE/CE (Electrical, Telecommunications, and Computer Engineering) students. The Engineering students at the University of Texas at Dallas present their research projects towards the end of each semester (three times a year; totaling 75 teams). Representatives from the EE/CE/TE Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) serve as judges in the assessment of our students. They provide feedback in terms of scores, comments, and questions based on the oral and poster presentations.
Is implemented over bluetooth bluetooth dongle to attach the 84th inside for being able that interfaces with the diagnostic computer and confess that to the raspberry pi processes the raw data converted to numbers and then formats the numbers so that they can display screen screen were using is a transparent led display from 40 systems we went with in this practice
Play so that wouldn’t interfere with riders division it’s mounted to the helmet using a 3d printed armature and it’s powered by battery pack the very fact last approximately two and a half hours which should suffice or a long commute both ways the system is meant to be attached to 20 units which is what brings off down so much the this approach allows the user to
Just go out by sticking up their own helmet instead it also allows them to move it from el muhammad as they desire the main program is written in python handles the green addiction fairly well there is approximately about a second and a half to second latency which we are looking to improve refrigeration the breakdown of the work thomas tanishaa don’t lee developing
Power solution for our project i along with econ developing software and coupon was in charge of modeling the pretty pretty far mature we have a working prototype any leader that mimics the responses of a vehicle diagnostic computer so you like to see this thing in action you can visit our table yes wherever you go to know that’s a raspberry pi and it mounts to the
Back of the helmet very high familiarity with the system yes why use a battery pack instead of well this square piece of using is approached the bike powered up and connect automatically and drive off when you’re done you step off the bike take off your helmet mirror on your way there’s no fussing with plugs or anything like that aside from the initial installation
Of the double effort to go through to design the screen what would display on the screen very narrow experiment was the manufacturer of the screen provides a api to the license so it was just a matter of setting it up to receive serial communication from the raspberry pi and then i talked to the screen display driver to and read those numbers and then draw the
Details the way we have it set up it doesn’t it draws mars and it essentially makes a second second display with the bars and it’s up to the screen entirely to figure out what part and drive based on input from us raspberry pi the transparency does cause contrast issues when you’re in a right environment we try to address that by modulating the brightness based on
A photo detector but that proved to be ineffective as the model of screen we’re using presently in this prototype is not sufficiently bright to make that being the difference with the activation we did some research into walls regarding external about games onto any regulations regarding that and gopro cameras are externally mounted
