How to: Remove front wheel on a motorcycle

In this video I show you how to remove the front wheel on your motorcycle

Hello viewers today i’m going to show you how to remove the front wheel off of your motorcycle i’m going to be doing this on my 1994 on the magna but the procedure is pretty similar on all bikes first thing you’re going to do is loosen up the lock nuts there on the front of your forks then i’m going to use i’m using my four way to loosen up the axle bolt as you may

Have noticed that i only loosened one side of the lock nuts because i want the other side locked so that i can loosen up the axle without having worrying about the axle bolt turning around so now what i’m going to do is i’m going to loosen up the lock nuts on the other side of the forks next what i’m doing is taking off the bolts that hold my brake caliper in place

So because you’re going to have to remove these if you have dual disks on your bites you’re going to have to do this on both sides these are usually twelve millimeter bolts so i’m i’m bolting them and what i’m going to do is a get some string and use the string to hold the caliper lévy ating while i’m working well i have got the wheel off because what you want

To do is fusion you don’t want the brake calipers to hang by the weight of the caliper because that’s going to that may damage your brake lines so i’m going to pry off the brake caliper here and you’ve got to be careful when you take the caliper off not to hit it on your wheel so that you don’t scratch the wheel so it might be a little tight in there but there you

Go it’s off and then i’m going to use my string to go ahead and leave eight or tie it to the handle bars somehow so that they don’t hang bye-bye my break lines so once i have the calipers all set up away from the wheel what i’m going to do is i’m going to use my flow jack and lift the front wheel off the top really lift the front wheel off the ground and you have

To be careful make sure that your bike is stable while you’re doing this so that it doesn’t fall off especially and you do not want it to fall off especially when you’ve got the wheel off the bike so here you can see it the wheel is just barely off the ground and that’s pretty much all you need so now what i’m going to do is i’m going to go ahead and take off the

Bolt the retaining board bolt of the axle and then just use use the bowl to push down on the axle a little bit so that it starts coming off from the other side and then you can use if it’s still kind of snug in there you can use any kind of or you can use your wrench or something to hammer the axle out of the socket the other thing also what you’re going to do is

Remove the speedometer cable so it’s on my bike it’s used it’s a philips head screw that’s holding the speedometer cable so i’m going to go ahead and take that out once that is out we’ll be ready to remove the wheel with the axle off the wheel should come off fairly easily there’s my speedometer track coming off and just make sure that you don’t have any spacers

That will fall off while your wheel is taken out of the bike so i’m just making sure of that and then on the other side you’ll see my little spacer usually there’s one or two spacers either one side or the other side of the bike so make sure you take that off and don’t lose that it’s always a good idea to put the spacer just the way it came off from the side where

It came off so there you go that’s how you take off your real you
